A Typical Morning in Nursery

9-9.30 Register and counting, days of the week and a look at the weather.

We like to share our book of the week at this time or the rhyme we are learning. We use puppets and props to make the stories and rhymes come alive for the children.

9.30-9.45 The children take part in play-dough gym/disco. Stretching and squeezing play-dough to songs and music to make their hands and fingers strong and develop fine motor skills.

9.45- 10.30 The children choose activities from the areas in the classroom which include: Creative Area, Mark Making Area, Construction, Book Area, Sand Play and Water Play.

10.30-11 It's tidy up time followed by a healthy snack, children choose a piece of fruit and water or milk.

At 11 O Clock we go outside to play in our lovely outdoor area. Activities outside are changed and enhanced each week and include: water play, throwing and catching with balls and bean bags, building with large wooden construction, riding bikes and scooters.

At 11.20 The children wash their hands and line up for lunch/snack time: we all go the the lunch hall together and those children going home choose a snack whilst they wait for parents. Children staying all day will join reception for a hot meal or have their own packed lunch.

Reading is a vital part of a child's development. It helps with children's communication and language development, their literacy skills as well as their social skills. We recommend that you read with your child daily! This could be a fun, relaxing part of your bedtime routine.
