Year 3

Welcome to our Class Page

January 2021 - School Closures

Dear Year 3 children, parents and carers,

We hope you are all well and staying safe. As you know, school will be closed to most children for the next few weeks and once again, we will have to do most of our school learning using Google Classroom.

Over the next few days, we will begin posting lessons and activities on the Google Classroom pages and starting next Monday (11.01.21), we will have a full timetable of daily activities for you to do. Please make sure you are signed up to any of the Year 3 Google Classrooms that you are invited to, to make sure that you are not missing out on work that is posted for you. Most of you are fully set up with Google Classroom now and know how to post photos of your work back to us, but if you have any questions please get in touch with school, so that we can help you to access the work online. We will also begin making ‘keeping-in-touch’ phone calls to our families next week and we may be able to answer your Google Classroom queries during those calls.

We understand that it is sometimes difficult to work by yourself at home, when you are used to working in class with teachers and friends around you. We will try to make sure that the work we put on Google Classroom is something that you can do at home. Please just try your best and don't worry too much if you find something difficult. We don't want anybody to be upset or anxious at home while trying to do school work. It is very important to us that you stay happy and safe while we are apart. Try to keep us updated with how you are getting on. Even if you haven't managed to complete all of the work for one day, whatever you are doing will help and we will enjoy seeing what you have done.

We will miss you all very much over the next few weeks, but we will be thinking of you and looking forward to seeing you all again very soon.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs McGaughey, Mrs Baines and the Year 3 team xx

Monday 11th January 2021

Dear Year 3 children, parents and carers,

Below you will find the timetables that we will be following in school over the next few weeks. These timetables will be followed by the small number of children who are currently attending school during the closure.

To ensure that children at home are able to access the same level of learning as those in school, we will also be providing this work on Google Classroom in the form of online learning.

We will follow a two-week timetable to ensure that the wider curriculum subjects are offered alongside daily maths, English and spelling/phonics lessons. We are also encouraging the children to take part in daily physical activities, as they would normally have this opportunity in school during break/lunchtimes and PE lessons.

We are attaching the timetables, so that you can see what to expect each day on Google Classroom and to help you plan your day of home learning. We do not expect you to stick rigidly to our timetable while you are at home. Work in whatever way suits you best throughout the day. Children will work at a different pace depending on the subject area and their own personal strengths. As always, we want our children to feel happy and confident in their learning and would not wish for them to feel under pressure while working at home during these unsettled times. Any work that they are doing will benefit them while they are away from school. We will be checking in on Google Classroom throughout the day, so if you are unsure of anything to do with the work, please ask.

Most importantly of all, take care and stay safe.

We will see you all soon

Mrs McGaughey, Mrs Baines and the Year 3 team xx

September 2020

Welcome back to school Year 3! We are so excited to see you all and get to know you properly.

We know that some of you are probably feeling a little bit worried about coming back to school, after spending so much time away during lockdown. Some of you may also be feeling super excited about getting back to see your friends! Some of you may not even really know how you are feeling yet! That is all perfectly normal and we will spend some time over the next few days and weeks talking about those feelings and helping each other settle into our new class and our new school year.

We are very lucky in Year 3, because we have lots of grown-ups to help and look after us. In our class this year will be:

Mrs McGaughey - Teacher (Monday - Wednesday)

Mrs Baines - Teacher (Thursday & Friday)

Mrs Heller - Learning Support Assistant

Ms Dore - 1:1 Support Assistant

Ms Jones - 1:1 Support Assistant

Ms Jones - 1:1 Support Assistant

We have lots of fun activities planned for you over the next few weeks and can't wait to see you! smileyheart

PE

Year 3's PE lesson will take place on Monday each week. Please make sure your child has the correct PE kit for lessons. PE kit consists of a white t-shirt, black/navy shorts, leggings or joggers and black PE pumps. Kits should be brought to school on Monday morning and should be taken home and washed after school. Kits will not be kept in school at this time.

Homework and Book Bags

At the moment, your child does not need to bring their book bag into school. Once the children have settled into school and we have had an opportunity to assess their progress, we will begin to set homework and provide home reading books. You will receive more information about this in the coming weeks.

Pencil Cases and Personal Belongings

All children in Year 3 have been provided with a stationery pack containing everything they need for the school day. Children do not need to bring any additional pencil cases or stationery into school. Children should not bring any personal belongings into school, other than what they need for the school day (PE kits, lunch bags and water bottles.)

Water Bottle

If your child would like to bring a reusable water bottle to class, please make sure it is labelled with their name. Water bottles should be brought to school each morning and taken home at the end of the day to be washed.

School Closures 2020

Dear Parents and Year 3 Children

We hope you are all well, keeping safe and looking after each other. We are really missing you all and can't wait to see you all back at school when the time is right.

We hope you are managing to fill your time at home with fun activities and you are enjoying this time with your family. It is very strange for us not getting to hear your stories, so if you want to let us know what you've been up to, you can always tweet us @year3stnicsliv or @stnicsliv

There are lots of different ways you can be having fun and learning at home and we're sure some of you will have been spending your time reading, drawing, baking, playing board games, building Lego and lots more!

If you are looking for more ideas, we have set up a Google classroom page, which we will keep up to date with activities linked to our learning in school. You all have your own log-in details and more information about how to access the page can be found below.

In addition to this, you should also have your log-in details for TTRockstars and Spelling Shed. Just 5 minutes a day playing these games will help to keep your minds active and keep up the skills you have been developing in school. If you do not have your log-in details for these websites at home, or you have lost them, just send a message to us through the Google Classroom page and we will sort it out for you.

If your child was given a Nessy log-in while at school, it is really important that they try to access this as much as possible, to support their reading and spelling skills.

We will continue adding information to this page, the Google Classroom page and our twitter page. Please don't be worried about trying to do everything that we suggest. These are all just ideas and we are just as interested in any other work or activities that you are doing at home, so try to keep in touch and let us know how you are.

The most important thing right now is that you are safe and happy. Take some time to relax when you can. One of our favourite ways to relax is by reading, so choose your favourite book or a book you haven't read before, snuggle up and get reading! Let us know if you have discovered a new story that has inspired you, or rediscovered an old favourite.

More information can be found in the sections below.

For now, take care and stay safe.

Best wishes

Mrs McGaugheysmiley & Mrs Baines smiley
