Year 4

Welcome To Our Year 4 Class Page

Welcome to the Spring term!

Mr Lee will teach the class every Monday and the rest of the week Mrs Naylor will be in class.

In English, we will be reading 'This Morning I met a whale' and 'Charlotte's Web' and using these to further our knowledge of persuasion, explanation and play scripts. We will continue to revise a variety of number and place value questions in Maths whilst focusing on fractions, decimals, measures, shape and co-ordinates.

This term our geography is all about water - where does it come from and how does it travel? After half term, we will be switching to history to study the Romans and what they did for us before taking a trip to the Roman city of Dewa (Chester). In science, we will begin by exploring how sound is made and how it travels before looking at different states of matter and how they can change over time.

We will start our art topic on self portraits by looking at the work of famous female artist Frida Kahlo before creating our very own painted versions of ourselves. In Design and Technology, we are going to start a cooking topic and make our own stir fry.

We have PE on a Wednesday so all children should bring their kit for these sessions. Our violin lessons are also on Wednesday so don't forget your violins if you have your own.

Homework is sent out on Friday and needs to be returned the following Tuesday.

Spellings are given out on a Tuesday and should be learnt for their spelling test on a Friday.

Please check your child's homework book as well as their school diary for reading.

ALL children have their login in for Times tables Rock stars. The app is free to download and the children can access it through most handheld devices.
